Medical Holidays Treatments Abroad

Most people go on holiday a few times of year in order to escape the stresses and strains of everyday life to relax, soak in the sun or ski down the slopes. But in today’s appearance conscious society a large number of people are travelling from Britain to far flung shores in order to return looking far more refreshed than a simple relaxing holiday could every achieve. Medical holidays are booming and people from the UK are taking advantage of low cost, high quality cosmetic surgery and dental treatments in a variety of countries abroad.

It is not just the appearance conscious who are taking advantage of medical treatments abroad. Many patients from the UK have decided to reject the long NHS waiting lists and exorbitant private clinic surgery costs and travel abroad for their treatment. Whether it is laser eye surgery, dental implants or a hip replacement, you can travel abroad and have the desired surgery with no waiting times and significant financial savings.

Holiday Destinations

The chance to have some form of surgery abroad and then spend recovery time on the beach or relaxing by the pool has become a particularly attractive proposition for many UK residents. If you are intending to have some form of cosmetic surgery or a large amount of dental work in Britain, then you will save a lot of money by combining it with your next holiday abroad.

The savings by combining treatment abroad with a holiday will still leave you financially better off than the cost of one medical treatment alone in the UK. If you take a holiday in Croatia for example, which is well known as an Eastern European dental hotspot, you can arrive at your accommodation, have your dental treatment in a few hours and then spend the rest of your holiday relaxing on the Golden Cape beach.

Costs

Many people do of course go abroad to countries such as Spain, Hungary, Greece and the Czech Republic for the extremely cheap holiday packages available. The exchange rates, cheap flights and low cost accommodation available abroad are a big attraction for these holiday destinations. Now you can opt to have surgery while abroad for very little money compared to the UK and then relax and recuperate in private. In fact it makes more sense financially to choose the option of a medical holiday than to pay for many types of surgery in Britain.

Going Farther Abroad

The countries for medical holidays abroad are practically endless. If you want to go farther than Europe you can head to India, Asia, South Africa, South America and even Australia. Medical service providers and the Internet have endless websites promoting a variety of medical holidays in every conceivable country. From a nose job in Thailand to heart surgery in India to a hip replacement in Tunisia.

Undertaking your Research

Before you consider any type of medical holiday you should always research all of your options. You can use a medical service provider who will arrange all of your flights, accommodation and surgery for you. They will also have thoroughly checked the surgeon’s credentials and qualifications and the standard of hospital and clinic facilities. Medical providers will also have a wide range of countries from which you can choose to have your medical treatment.

You can forgo the medical service provider route and set up your own medical holiday package. This will take more research time as you will need to check clinic facilities and the surgeon’s credentials yourself and arrange your own flights and accommodation. You should always carefully compare costs when arranging your own surgery but do not be tempted to compromise quality or standards by going for the cheapest option.

Medical holidays have become big business, not just for patients from Britain but from the US and Canada. Spiralling prices and long waiting times have forced patients to be proactive with their own health and look for better options, which include medical holidays. If you undertake your research and plan your holiday and medical treatments thoroughly you should find your medical holiday a very positive experience.
