Body Surgery For Men

Males now make up an increasingly large percentage of what has become known as the medical tourism industry. Many men are unhappy with certain parts of their body and many hours of gym work and a healthy diet sometimes just isn’t enough to correct the problem. A simple nip and tuck, or more in-depth medical procedure may be required, but costs for these operations in the UK are becoming increasingly prohibitive.

Travelling abroad for medical surgery or cosmetic treatment has become an accepted and serious alternative in order to avoid taking out large loans to pay for the surgery. Having surgery abroad is safe, less expensive and can be combined with a recuperative holiday.

Types of Body Surgery
Basically, if you are unhappy with some aspect of your appearance there will usually be a treatment that can alter, enhance or correct the problem. With advancements in the field of plastic surgery and the sophisticated technology used, the treatments should be painless, quick and give excellent results. Listed below are some of the more common treatments available in the field of body surgery for men.

Tummy Tuck
A quick and effective operation that will leave the patient looking slimmer with a more streamlined body shape. A tummy tuck or apronectomy will remove excess fat and tighten the loose skin around the stomach area. A minor version of the procedure can be performed if only the loose skin is to be removed.

Your surgeon will be able to advise on the surgery that is best for your condition, and discuss whether the surgery will be combined with liposuction. You can expect some swelling and discomfort, and another visit to a hospital will be needed if stitches are non-dissolvable.

Male Chest Reduction
This is a very common treatment used to eliminate excess fat and glandular tissue. This problem can be caused simply by being overweight or it may have been caused by the use of certain drugs such as steroids. If regular exercise and dieting does not eliminate the problem then a chest reduction is a viable option.

Liposuction may be used during the treatment and the operation itself will take between one to two hours. An overnight stay in the clinic or hospital may be required and recovery time will be between ten to fourteen days.

Liposuction
Another very popular treatment in the field of body surgery for men is liposuction. Excess fat will be removed from the problem area by using a suction device attached to a large needle. The results of this operation can be seen immediately, but to keep the desired shape a healthy diet and exercise schedule should be adhered to. You can expect some discomfort after the surgery and you will need at least two weeks recovery time.

Calf Implants
This type of surgery uses implants to enhance the look of the calves and give definition to the area. Results can be seen immediately after the operation and you will need at least two weeks recovery time.

Pectoral Implants
Pectoral implant surgery will give a more defined and muscular appearance to the chest area. The results of this surgery can be seen immediately but you will need a recovery time of around ten to fourteen days.

Thigh Lift
A popular surgical operation for men and women, a thigh lift can be used to tighten loose skin after natural weight loss in the thigh area or after liposuction. The results are a slimmer thigh area with better definition. You will need an overnight stay in the clinic or hospital and a recovery time of around two to three weeks will be needed.

Full Body Lift
A full body lift is a more extensive form of surgery used when a person has experienced a large amount of weight loss. Surgery will be specific to the stomach, buttock and arms to remove excess skin in these areas. The surgery time will depend on the amount of areas to be treated, and there will be some discomfort and bruising to the treated areas. You will need a recovery time of around two weeks to a month.

Before any form of surgery it is wise to do your research beforehand. Once you have chosen your surgeon make sure that you ask any questions needed to allay any fears. Also consult with your own UK doctor; some pre-surgery tests can be taken at home and then sent to the surgeon abroad.

Nearly all body surgery for men is performed with the patient under some form of anaesthetic and this should be discussed with your surgeon abroad before the operation. Once the surgery has been performed you can then relax and enjoy the rest of your holiday, or take the short flight back to Britain and recuperate at home.
