Travelling Abroad For Non-Surgical Procedures

Travelling Abroad For Non-surgical Procedures

There is a growing trend in women and men, for non-surgical procedures in the field of cosmetic improvements. Recent statistics have shown a huge increase in people opting for the non-surgical approach, and many people are travelling abroad to take advantage of low cost treatment options combined with the same standard of professionalism from plastic surgeons.

Non-surgical, or non-invasive surgery, meaning without the use of incisions, is mainly centred on the facial area, and is used to enhance the appearance of the face and correct skin irregularities. Many clinics and hospitals abroad that perform cosmetic surgery are now realising the demand from patients for excellent non-surgical procedures, and have now added these treatments within their clinics.

Types of Non Surgical Procedures

There is a diverse range of treatments for people who wish to enhance their appearance without going under the surgeon’s knife. Wrinkle removal, hair removal, eye treatments, treatments to improve the texture of the skin, and to reduce ageing of the skin, are all readily available at many of the cosmetic surgeries abroad.

Benefits of Treatments Abroad

One of the main factors in having non-surgical procedures abroad is the cost. Having cosmetic surgery abroad will save you around 50% of the cost of having the same treatments performed in the UK. This discount in price is the same whether it is surgical or non-surgical treatment. Another benefit to going abroad is that due to the lower cost, multiple treatments can be performed at a lower cost than one treatment in the UK.

Even if you combine the non-surgical treatments with the cost of a two-week holiday abroad, you should still come out financially ahead of having the same treatment in the UK alone. After you have had your procedure you can then spend your time recuperating on holiday in a country of your choice.

Safety Aspects of Treatments Abroad

Many people think that if the costs are this low the professionalism of the surgeons will also be low; this is not usually the case. Most of the surgeons abroad are accredited to practice in their field and have studied for many years to qualify.

The lower cost of living, exchange rates and the fact that the clinics abroad are privately run, all go towards the low cost of the surgery. Many surgeons abroad admit that even one or two private patients a month from Britain will considerably boost their company’s profits. The clinics and hospitals abroad have state of the art facilities and are at the cutting edge of cosmetic surgery and non-surgical procedures.

Countries that Perform Non Surgical Procedures

Cost and type of treatment will vary from country to country and some countries may specialise in a certain aspect of treatment. Countries that specialise in this field include France, Sweden, Norway, Hungary, and Spain, although it is possible to travel to South Africa and India for these treatments. Always remember to factor in the cost of flights, flying time and accommodation when you are calculating the total costs.

Type of Non Surgical Procedures

Laser Resurfacing

This procedure uses lasers to remove the upper layers of the skin, leaving the skin refreshed and looking younger. The skin will appear pink for around two months and cleansing of the skin will be need several times per day.

Lower Eyelid Resurfacing

This procedure removes fat from the lower lids, again using lasers. Bags can be removed from the lower lid, and the end result is a refreshed, less tired appearance. Again, aftercare will be needed and a special cleansing routine will need to be followed.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are used to improve skin texture and correct irregularities in the pigmentation of the skin. A chemical peel can also reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and scarring. The procedure involves treatment of the skin with a highly controlled acid that removes the top layers of the skin. The process usually takes around 30 minutes to complete and the treatment can be used for both facial and non facial skin areas.

Wrinkle Treatments

Perhaps the most well know wrinkle treatment is botulinum toxin, otherwise known as Botox ®. The procedure consists of injections of the toxin into areas where there are deep creases and frown lines, or to laughter lines around the eyes. This treatment is non permanent and will last for around six months.

There are a number of other non surgical treatments other than the more common ones described above. These can include collagen injections to fill deep lines, or Hyperhydrosis, which is a 30 minute non surgical procedure to help people with the problem of excess sweating. Your clinic of choice or medical provider will be able to give advice on the range of options and your suitability for treatment.
